Understanding the Problem

What is the Xiaomi Mi Account Lock?

Xiaomi ties every handset to a Mi Account through the Find Device service in MIUI and HyperOS. Reset a Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO while that account is still signed in and the setup wizard will not move until somebody produces the original Mi Account details. Fail to and the phone sits on "This device is locked" indefinitely. Apple does the same thing with Activation Lock, and Google with FRP.

As theft protection it works. The trouble is that it cannot tell a thief from a buyer, so anyone who takes on a handset the last owner wiped without signing out hits the same wall. Second-hand sales and inherited phones account for most of the ones we see.

What we do is lift the lock through server-side channels, which on most handsets means nothing has to be rooted or flashed. Once lifted it stays lifted, through factory resets and through MIUI and HyperOS updates alike.

Where these phones come from

Second-Hand Purchase
The seller wiped it but never signed out
Inherited Device
A relative's handset, with no one left who knows the account
Forgotten Credentials
Your own phone, behind an account you can no longer reach
Locked After Reset
A factory reset done in the wrong order

Who This Is For

Is yours one of these?

A Redmi or POCO you paid for that will not let you in

More people arrive here for this than for anything else. A handset off eBay, off Marketplace, or out of somebody's hands directly, wiped by an owner who left their Mi Account attached. We work from the IMEI and lift the lock at the server end, and whether the old owner ever answers their phone makes no difference to it.

A Xiaomi you inherited, locked behind an account nobody has

This is the hardest version of the problem, because Xiaomi's own recovery route asks for exactly the details that are no longer available to anybody. Working from the IMEI instead gets you there without that wait.

Your own handset, and your own account you cannot get into

A reset done before signing out, a password changed and forgotten, or the email address and number the account hangs on being long gone. We take the lock off from the IMEI and you set the phone up again yourself.

A batch of ex-fleet Xiaomi handsets to clear

Resellers and asset-disposal firms are welcome here. Put one IMEI in to see the single-unit price, then write to us and we will quote for the lot.

Permanent Removal

Because the change is made at the server end, it does not come back — not after an update, and not after a reset.

Secure & Private

Nothing on the handset is read, because nothing on the handset needs to be. The IMEI is all the work runs on.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this screen asking me for?
It is Xiaomi's theft protection, wired into the Find Device service in MIUI and HyperOS. Once a handset has been wiped, setup insists on the Mi Account that was signed in beforehand. No account, no phone. Apple calls its version Activation Lock; Google calls its version FRP.
How does your side of it work?
Your 15-digit IMEI is the only thing we need. The order goes in, our team files the removal request through server-side channels, and when it comes back you carry on through setup with nobody asking you for the old owner's account.
Which handsets does this cover?
The whole Xiaomi family: Xiaomi itself, the Mi and numbered series, Redmi and Redmi Note, and POCO. Anything outside that family is almost certainly an FRP problem, and we have a separate service for those.
Will I lose anything on the phone?
A handset that has reached this screen has already been wiped, so in practice there is nothing on it to lose. Our part deletes nothing at all; it takes away the account check that is blocking setup and stops there.
Does it stay unlocked?
Yes. The work is done at the server level, which is what makes it stick. Updates will not undo it and neither will a future factory reset. This is a removal, not a bypass that lapses.
Do I have to root or flash it?
Not in the ordinary case. Everything runs server-side from the IMEI, with no root, no custom firmware and nothing flashed. You hand over the number and the work happens at our end.
What if it cannot be done?
You get the full amount back. If the removal cannot be completed, for whatever reason, we refund it.
Is this above board?
Yes, on a handset that belongs to you. We will not unlock a stolen phone and do not pretend otherwise. This service is for owners who have lost their way into their own Mi Account, or bought from someone who never signed out.
How long does it take?
It depends on the model and on which security patch the phone is running. One to three business days is typical, and an email goes out the moment it is done.
Do you need the handset posting to you?
No. All of this is remote and the 15-digit IMEI is the only thing that travels. The phone stays with you throughout.
Mi Account lock or FRP — which have I got?
Read the screen. A Mi Account prompt is Xiaomi's own protection. A Google account prompt is FRP, which is Google's and applies across all of Android. One Xiaomi handset can carry both. Mi Account means you are on the right page; Google means you want our FRP service instead.
Can I see how far along it is?
Yes. An order reference arrives by email as soon as you have paid. That reference plus your email address will show you the current state of the order on our status page, whenever you want it.
