How Apple Watch Activation Lock Works

Apple Watch Activation Lock is linked to the Apple ID of the paired iPhone. When a user sets up Apple Watch, the Watch inherits the Activation Lock tied to that Apple ID.

When the watch is unpaired or erased without first removing the Apple ID, it enters Activation Lock state. The previous owner's Apple ID remains linked — you cannot pair the watch with your own iPhone until the lock is removed.

Cellular vs GPS-only: Cellular Apple Watch models have their own IMEI number. GPS-only models use a serial number. Our service handles both — enter whichever identifier you have on the unlock page.

Why can't I pair my Apple Watch with my iPhone?
If your Apple Watch is showing an Activation Lock screen, the previous owner's Apple ID is still linked to the watch. Our unlock service removes this link at the server level, allowing you to pair the watch with your own iPhone.
Do I need the original paired iPhone to complete the unlock?
No. Our unlock is processed remotely using only your Apple Watch IMEI or serial number. You do not need the original paired iPhone.
Does Apple Watch have its own IMEI?
Cellular Apple Watch models have their own IMEI. GPS-only Apple Watch models are identified by serial number. Both can be used with our service.
How long does the Apple Watch unlock take?
Apple Watch unlocks typically complete within 1–5 business days. You'll receive an email confirmation when the unlock is processed.
Will the Apple Watch work normally after the unlock?
